{Sunday's heartfelt tradition. A time to slow down, to reflect, to be grateful. A list of gratitudes.}

I missed a week again, but life has been wonderfully busy.

I am so thankful for these past five days. It was just me and my kids.  We didn't work, we didn't plan much, we didn't have a car, we took it slow, just enjoyed each other and it has been lovely.

I am also so thankful for,

Wonderful neighbors.  We were given some super yummy zucchini from our dear next door neighbor, and our neighbors across the street helped clear our front yard of tree debris!

Things falling into place.

A wonderful, fun-filled visit with my in-laws.  And the first long distance drive we didn't have a child barf in the car!

We took the kids to Gilroy Gardens. They had a blast!

Spent a lovely day with Grandma and Auntie.

Thankful to live in a place near the ocean and that hot is in the 70's!

My mom.  She helps me so much with so many different parts of my life. She helps me balance.

Thankful for help finding a home for our rooster.  We were sad to see him go, but I think the neighborhood is grateful!

Also for:

Cousins.

This friendship <3.

These two... always together <3.

I am thankful to get to visit with my sister soon.

To have an opportunity to do some art for my Grammy.

To have a dear husband who tells me how much he misses me every day that he is away.

Thankful that he will be home tomorrow.

In The Garden

The kids and I have been spending a lot of time outside, the sun has been so nice.
I love watching my garden grow.  I read a lot about gardening but then I still just go out and wing it, silly me...anyway here are some pictures of my garden so far this summer.

This year we have had some troubles in our strawberry patch.  Between, slugs and chickens I hope I can get it back on track!

Also the 5 raspberry plants I planted last year (that I totally thought I killed) have gone crazy, I have thinned so many but they just keep coming! No berries though...

We have planted carrots in any open space of dirt we could, and this year I have talked Rowan into letting them actually grow.  The kids also ate their first artichokes and loved them. Rowan and I are planing on planting more next year, she wants to plant hundreds, I will try to talk her down a bit!

And, finally after three years of trying I got broccoli!

My little veggie patch, I am planning on adding two or three more beds for next year.

My flowers are doing well, dahlias are coming back.  Poppies are blooming and my wedding calla lily just bloomed too.

These guys are taller then me...

This is my favorite dahlia.

This is the flower I had in my bouquet.
I love it when this blooms reminds me of such a good day.

First sunflower to open!

We are checking the blueberries daily for ripe ones...

I love how the chickens follow me around even if they are in the run.

The coop garden is looking pretty good too.

I look forward to more growth and eating more of our fruits and veggies. And now I am going to head home and hang out in the garden with my babies!

{Sunday's heartfelt tradition. A time to slow down, to reflect, to be grateful. A list of gratitudes.}

I missed last Sunday so these past weeks I am grateful for:

  • This beautiful weather we have been having.
  • Being able to spend time with my dear Grammy while she visits, and my daughters having the time to get to know her too.
  • A visit from my little brother.
  • A Turner family game night.
  • My gracious husband going home with our kids so I could stay up late with my family.
  • Love, from my kids, they are so full of fun and love and hugs it's a total love fest at our house.
  • A lovely holiday weekend/week.
  • A full downtown and a busy shop! Yay socks.
  • For being able to host my Grammy's book signing here at Pippi's.
  • Small town parades.  (If you want to see some pictures of our parade check out this post)
  • Waking Rowan up late to watch fireworks with her from our window. She kept whispering to me, "Mommy, I love these." <3
  • My dear younger cousin, who is visiting this summer, babysitting for us and giving Marshall and I some wonderful grown up time.
I like this guy <3

  • Being inspired by my husband
  • For my quiet Saturday mornings that Marsh gives me, I always feel re-charged, and so cared for.

    What are you thankful for?

Happy Independence Day!

Happy Independence Day
 &
Small town parades are awesome.

Our Fourth was mostly mellow.  After a less than minor toddler meltdown about clothes...we were all happy and ready to got to the Mendocino 4th of July Parade.

Rowan in her Red, white & blue.

Daddy in his patriotic gear.

As usual the streets were packed with locals and visitors alike.  After many firetrucks the other floats started coming by.  Ro and Zo got to pet a tiny rooser held by a 4H girl, I didn't get a picture of that, but they loved it!

Here are some other highlights from the parade:

Gotta have a peace float!

One of my favorite parts of Mendo parades, gotta love the Larry Fuente art cars!

Rowan and Zo think the pooping pigeon is the best!

Also the Ark thrift shop float rocking the Thrift Shop song was great.

After the parade we went home and relaxed with our kids in the back yard, it was an all around lovely day.  I hope everyone had great holiday too.

This Week at Pippi's

So it might be feeling a little warm for you to be thinking about socks, but here at Pippi's we never stop thinking about socks! This past week we have gotten some AMAZING socks in stock!

First things first... more art socks!
Really?!   Yes, really, and they are wonderful!

I love the starry night sock!

Also from Hot Sox...

Folksy. Coffee. Donuts. And, my personal favorite combo, Wine & Cheese.

Short socks and peds in packages of three's and sixes.

We have re-stocked our Foot Traffic...

Do you see the ruby slipper?  There is no place like home.

We got Ozone socks...

Pretty, pretty socks!

And as I type this Pippisters are opening boxes of another favorite Sock Smith!  That means more cats with glasses, Rosie the riveter,  Veggie knee highs, crab and star fish crews, and so many other wonderful socks!
